Trade Starter Grants
Kickstart your trade career with the right tools from day one. Egan Brothers is investing in the next generation of tradies with four $4,000 trade‑specific tool packs — two for male students and two female students.
Who Can Apply?
You must:
- Be currently enrolled in a Vocational Major (or equivalent)
- Be specialising in either Certificate II in Building & Construction (Pre‑apprenticeship), Certificate II in Plumbing (Pre‑apprenticeship) or Certificate II in Electrotechnology.
- Attend a local high school within our service region
- Have a teacher/TAFE reference (short note of support)
We welcome applications from students of all backgrounds and encourage applications from under‑represented groups in the trades.
Why We’re Doing this
Local talent deserves local backing. Trades keep our community moving, and we want to help motivated students hit the ground running with quality tools and a leg‑up into their careers. This program is designed to recognise effort, attitude, and a genuine interest in the trades — not just grades.
What You Can Win
Four x $1,000 Egan Brothers Trade Starter Tool Packs
Each winner selects a curated tool kit tailored to their discipline:
- Building & Carpentry: e.g. Milwaukee Tool Kit, circular saw, hand tool set, nail set, levels, pouches, PPE
- Plumbing: e.g. press tool contribution, pipe cutters, wrenches, crimpers, inspection torch, PPE
- Electrotechnology: e.g. multimeter, insulated hand tools, cable cutters/strippers, impact driver kit, PPE
Tool models/brands may vary depending on supplier availability. Winners can work with us to finalise a practical kit up to the value of $1,000. Prizes are not redeemable for cash.
How It Works
- 1. Submit your initial application (takes ~10 minutes).
- 2) Shortlisted students may be asked to answer a few extra questions or provide a short video (optional).
- 3) Teacher/TAFE reference is collected to support your application.
- 4) Final selection is made in collaboration with participating schools.
- 5) Winners announced and tool packs arranged.
For Students - Tips For A Great Application
- Be specific about why you picked your trade and what you’ve already learned.
- Tell us about projects, work experience, or volunteer jobs (big or small).
- Share where you want to go next — apprenticeship goals or trade pathways.
- Get a teacher or trainer to vouch for your effort and attitude.
