Project Overview

As part of a broader initiative to enhance water usage monitoring and reduce network losses, Egan Brothers Facility Specialists were engaged by IOTA Services, a division of South East Water, to install IoT-enabled data loggers—Flow Lotic™ units—on mechanical water meters across various local council sites throughout Victoria.

These devices provide real-time data transmission capabilities for water consumption, enabling councils to better manage network efficiency, detect leaks early, and monitor usage trends through cloud-based platforms.

Scope Of Work

Device Installation Across Council Sites:
Flow Lotic™ data loggers were installed at nominated water meter locations across multiple municipalities.
Pulse Sensor Integration:
Our technicians connected each Flow Lotic™ unit to a mechanical water meter via a low-voltage pulse sensor cable, ensuring accurate data capture.
IoT Commissioning:
Devices were commissioned using the Flow Lotic™ Android app and NFC-enabled smartphones. The “tap, hold, remove” process allowed for efficient field deployment.
Network Configuration:
The majority of units were pre-configured by IOTA for NB-IoT data network access. Where required, Egan Brothers technicians were equipped to manually configure devices, including DNS/IP settings, ensuring seamless connectivity.

Challenges and Solutions

Training and Technical Accuracy
